Rakesh served as the Senior Project Finance Manager at the Shams project company, acting as the apex point of finance within the SPV structure. His responsibilities included:

Shams is a 100-megawatt (MW) concentrated solar power (CSP) plant located in the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi, approximately 120 km southwest of the capital and 6 km from Madinat Zayed. As the first operational utility-scale CSP plant in the MENA region, Shams is a pioneering renewable energy project that contributes directly to the UAE’s long-term clean energy strategy. The site offers high levels of direct solar irradiation, ample land for operations, and easy connectivity to Abu Dhabi’s power grid, while also stimulating economic development in the Al Dhafra region.
Brands For Less Solar Project - Dubai
As Senior Group Finance Manager with Three Eight Six Group, Rakesh led the finance function for the development and project companies, reporting directly to the Chairman and CEO. He managed financial structuring, lender coordination, and project reporting, while overseeing bank guarantees, compliance requirements, and capital allocation to match EPC milestones.
Rakesh also implemented financial modelling, cash flow governance, and risk assessments that ensured the project achieved both its technical and financial objectives. His complete leadership of the finance function demonstrated the developer’s capability to deliver impactful C&I solar projects across the emirate of Dubai.

The Brands For Less (BFL) Solar Project, developed in partnership with Yoto International, delivered a 958KW rooftop solar installation that advanced renewable energy adoption in the UAE retail sector.
Dormakaba Solar Project – Dubai
As Senior Group Finance Manager, Rakesh led the entire finance function of the development and project companies, with direct reporting to the Chairman and CEO. Acting as the senior-most financial authority, he managed everything from structuring project accounts, overseeing bank guarantees, and ensuring compliance with financing agreements to providing board-level financial reporting, modelling, and risk management.
Rakesh also drove the review of refinancing opportunities, securing improved lending terms and optimizing the project’s capital structure for long-term sustainability. His leadership ensured that the Dormakaba Solar Project met both its development milestones and financial performance goals, reinforcing the developer’s position in Dubai’s renewable energy sector.

Rakesh Sharma contributed to the Midfield Terminal project while leading an industrial services company as Commercial Finance Manager.
In this dual role, he combined on-the-ground commercial management with top-tier financial oversight, giving him visibility into both the realities of site operations and the strategic financial performance of the project. His work spanned commercial management, financial management, project deployment, and sustainability services, ensuring that financial controls and commercial strategies were aligned with project milestones.
This combination of site-level insight and financial leadership equipped Rakesh with a unique perspective that added value to one of Abu Dhabi’s most important infrastructure projects.

The Midfield Terminal Complex (MTC) is a flagship infrastructure project developed under Abu Dhabi’s 2030 vision, designed to expand tourism and aviation capacity in the UAE capital. Covering 700,000 square meters, the terminal will enable Abu Dhabi to double its annual passenger capacity and solidify its position as a leading global transit hub. Planning and construction began in 2012, making it one of the most ambitious airport projects in the region.

Rakesh played a senior leadership role in supporting the successful delivery of these high-profile projects, balancing financial stewardship with commercial execution.
